WFP Tajikistan continues to monitor fuel prices across country

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 20. The average prices for diesel in Tajikistan have not changed in a period from May 8 through 14 compared to the preceding week, Trend reports.

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the average price for diesel fuel in the retail market of Tajikistan amounted to 11.7 somoni ($1.07) as of May 8. In comparison with the same period of 2022, the price decreased by 3 percent.

The lowest price for diesel was registered in Panjakent and Kushoniyon cities of Tajikistan -10.5 somoni ($0.96) for a liter as of May 8, which corresponds with the previous week’s report.

In comparison with the same period of 2022, the prices for diesel in Panjakent decreased by 9 percent and in Kushoniyon by 10 percent.

The highest price for diesel was registered in Murghob city of Tajikistan - 15 somoni ($1.37) per liter, which is the same as in the previous week. Compared to the same date of 2022 the price increased by 7 percent.

In Tajikistan’s Dushanbe, the price for diesel fuel decreased by 1 percent and amounted to 11.2 somoni ($1.02) for a liter. In comparison with the same data of 2022, the price declined by 5 percent.

WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. The price data is collected through the network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
