FAO releases forecast on Kyrgyzstan's cereal production in 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released a forecast on Kyrgyzstan's cereal production in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the FAO.

According to the forecasts, in 2022 the total cereal production in Kyrgyzstan is estimated at about 1.7 million tons, which is 3 percent above the five-year average level.

"Maize and barley outputs are forecasted at 690 000 tons and 440 000 tons, respectively, while the output of wheat (winter and spring crops) is estimated at a near-average level of 560 000 tons," the FAO reports.

Meanwhile, the harvest of the winter cereal crops for 2022, primarily wheat and barley, is already underway in Kyrgyzstan. The planting of the spring cereal crops, primarily maize, was completed in June, and harvesting is anticipated to start in August.
