Kyrgyzstan's GDP growing, 1Q2023 statistics say

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. The gross domestic product (GDP) in Kyrgyzstan increased from January through March 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the preliminary statistical data, the value of the Kyrgyz GDP amounted to 184 billion soms ($2.1 billion), increasing by 4.6 percent year-on-year.

The value of industrial production reached 92.5 billion soms ($1 billion) from January through March 2023, which is an increase of 7.6 percent over the same period of 2022.

The biggest increase was registered in manufacturing of the following:

Chemical products – an increase of 36.4 percent year-on-year;

Mining products – an increase of 21.4 percent year-on-year;

Pharmaceuticals – an increase of 19.8 percent year-on-year;

Wood and paper products and printing materials – an increase of 16.2 percent year-on-year;

Base metals – an increase of 13.6 percent year-on-year;

Rubber, plastic products and building materials – an increase of 10.7 percent year-on-year;

Food, tobacco products and drinks – an increase of 3.1 percent year-on-year.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the economic growth in the country in 2023 is expected to be supported in the agricultural sector by animal husbandry and crop production, in the industrial sector by the resuming operations of currently non-active enterprises and the sustainability of the production of operating enterprises, as well as by the service sector and the construction sector.

The Kyrgyz GDP increased by 7 percent in 2022 and amounted to 919 billion soms ($10 billion).
