BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 16. Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased electricity imports from Turkmenistan over the year, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the committee, from January through October 2022 Kyrgyzstan imported electricity from Turkmenistan for $56.7 million, which is 9.3 times more than in the same period of last year ($6.1 million).
During the reporting period, the volume of Turkmen's electricity exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to 2 billion kWh.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan imported 580.1 million kWh of electricity worth $10.5 million from Kazakhstan.
Overall, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan from January through October of this year increased by 2.8 times compared to the same period in 2021 ($27.2 million) - up to $76 million.
