BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. The Turkish port of Istanbul handled 244,265 tons of cargo from January through April 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, 2,282 tons of cargo were handled by ships under the flag of Türkiye through the port of Istanbul, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 241,983 tons.
"From January through April 2023, the Turkish port of Istanbul handled 13,737 tons of transit cargo," the ministry said.
In April 2023, the ports of the country handled 33.6 million tons of cargo. Cargo transportation by ships under the country's flag through domestic ports amounted to 2.39 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the flags of other countries reached 31.2 million tons.
Besides, in April this year, the Turkish ports handled 5.1 million tons of transit cargo.
From January through April 2023, the ports handled 125.2 million tons of cargo.
Moreover, in the specified period, cargo transportation by ships under the country's flag amounted to 8.8 million tons, while cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the flags of other countries totaled 116.3 million tons.
During the first four months of 2023, Turkish ports handled 23.4 million tons of transit cargo.
