BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. Representatives of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan took part in the 16th annual meeting of the TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe - Caucasus - Asia) Intergovernmental Commission, which is being held in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, the participants of the meeting were informed about the work being carried out by Turkmenistan on joining the agreement and on the development of the country's transport infrastructure, including the active introduction of the national system of electronic transport documents, which is becoming a leading link in simplifying the procedures for deliveries by rail and road, air, river, and sea vessels, starting from the application mechanism, tracking cargo flows, paying for transportation by customers, before analyzing logistics and evaluating efficiency.
The Turkmen side also focused the attention of the meeting participants on the possibilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which has a capacity of more than 27 million tons of cargo per year and is capable of simultaneously receiving 17 ships, as well as modernization of the railway industry of Turkmenistan, the purchase of new locomotives.
Meanwhile, in Tbilisi, at this meeting held on February 10, the official transfer of the mandate of the chairmanship of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission from Bulgaria to Georgia took place.
