Kyrgyzstan's passenger transportation by railways, air decreases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. Kyrgyzstan’s passenger transportation by railways and air transport amounted to 97,300 people in January 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The figure decreased by 1.1 times or 14,700 people, compared to 112,000 people in January 2022.

According to the statistics, Kyrgyzstan’s passengers by air transport amounted to 83,300 people in January 2023, decreasing by 11.3 percent from 93,900 people in the same period of 2022.

At the time, passenger transportation via railways totaled 14,000 people in January 2023, which is less by 22.7 percent or 4,100 people over 18,100 passengers in January 2022.

Reportedly, the passenger turnover by air transport totaled 140.3 million passenger-kilometers in January 2023, decreasing by 2 percent over 143.1 3 million passenger-kilometers in January 2022.

Additionally, the passenger turnover by railway totaled 1.1 million passenger-kilometers in January 2023, which is a decrease of 15.4 percent compared to 1.3 million passenger-kilometers in the same period of 2022.

According to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), some 1.2 million people in Kyrgyzstan traveled by air transport, and 300,000 people via railway transport in 2022.

In total, passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 528 million people last year.
