Iran's Maskan Bank provides money for National Housing Action Plan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. Iran's Maskan Bank has so far paid 88 trillion rials (about $2.09 billion) to construction companies under the National Housing Action Plan, Managing Director of the bank Mahmoud Shayan said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The director said that in total, 477,014 people were registered in the Maskan Bank under the National Housing Action Plan. About 281,403 of them paid money for the plan. The total amount paid is about 162 trillion rials (about $3.85 billion).

Shayan added that about 74.4 trillion rials (about $1.77 billion) of the mentioned money was paid to construction companies as loans.

He also noted that so far, construction companies have developed 21,949 projects. A total of 255,479 apartments are planned to be built on the basis of the projects. The companies sent a request to the Maskan Bank to sign contracts under the projects. So far, Maskan Bank has signed contracts with construction companies for the construction of 79,900 apartments.

Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development is implementing the National Housing Action Plan. According to the plan, the heads of families must register and have deposits of 300 million rials (about $7,140) at the Bank Maskan of Iran.

The current İranian government (which has been power since August 2021) plans to provide 4 million apartments to the citizens in the country within 4 years under the National Housing Action Plan.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the necessary land for the construction of 2.8 million apartments has already been allocated.
