BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. STAR Refinery, one of the most digital refineries in the world, has been designed to minimize its environmental impact by using the most advanced technology, SOCAR Türkiye told Trend October 21.
“We also reduce emissions at our refinery with the energy efficiency projects we implement in our production processes. For example, the electric compressor running at high setting was switched to low mode, saving 5,154 MW of energy in 2021. With this energy gain, we have prevented 4 000 tons of carbon emission in one year for this project,” said the company.
SOCAR Türkiye said that as a result of Hydrogen Balance Optimization studies at STAR Refinery, we saved 942 tons of hydrogen and prevented 6 000 tons of carbon emissions.
“While in the short term we ensure our emission reduction with energy efficiency projects like this, in the long term, we aim to achieve it through our environmentally friendly new technologies and R&D studies.”
