Export of Kyrgyz coal increased by 25% due to increased supplies to Europe

Bishkek, Oct. 13, 2022. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan exported 57 thousand 498 tons of coal to European countries for 8 months of this year, the National Statistical Committee said.

From January to August, the volume of export deliveries increased by 25%, which was achieved due to the sale of solid fuels to Romania, Poland, Latvia and the Czech Republic.

38 thousand 602 tons of hard coal were exported to Romania during the specified period, which in total amounted to USD 2 million 228 thousand. This is an average of 57.7 dollars per 1 ton.

17 thousand 109.9 tons were delivered to Poland in the amount of USD 887.7 thousand. In this calculation, 1 ton cost USD 51.8. Latvia purchased 1,787 tons of hard coal from Kyrgyzstan at an average price of USD 80 per 1 ton. At the same cost, 20 tons of coal were exported to the Czech Republic. There were no deliveries to these countries last year.

The maximum volume of this type of fuel from January to August was delivered to Uzbekistan - 313 thousand 110.2 tons at an average cost of USD 31.7. Kyrgyzstan also delivered coal to China (more than 9.5 thousand tons - 28 dollars each), Georgia (5 thousand 162.5 tons - 44 dollars each) and Turkey (more than 9 thousand tons - 30 dollars each) in eight months.

In addition, Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev said today that from October 17, a temporary ban on coal exports will be introduced in the country. The measure is introduced to protect the domestic market.
