BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Gas production in Uzbekistan from January through April 2023 amounted to 16.26 bcm - down by 9.5 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.
The breakdown of gas production by month reveals that in January, 4.31 bcm of gas were extracted, which is a decrease of 7.5 percent, compared to the same period last year, the latest statistical data reveals.
In February, the production stood at 3.85 bcm, indicating a 9-percent decrease year-on-year.
March witnessed a further drop, with gas production reaching 4.16 bcm - down by 12.96 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2022. At the same time, in April, the production decreased by 8.1 percent to 3.94 bcm.
Notably, Uzbekistan's gas production figures for January to April 2022 have been revised as well. Thus, some 17.96 bcm of gas were produced in the country during the reporting period last year (as opposed to the previously reported figure of 18.01 bcm).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gas condensate production in January-April 2023 decreased by 7.7 percent year-on-year - from 458.6 million cubic meters to 423.1 million cubic meters.
The decline in gas production in Uzbekistan raises concerns. This development may impact various sectors, including energy supply, industrial activities, and economic growth, emphasizing the importance of exploring solutions to enhance gas production in the country.
