BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 1.9 million tons and over 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas in the first quarter of 2023, SOCAR's press service told Trend.
It was noted that despite oil production remaining stable compared to previous years, gas production increased by 15 percent.
Furthermore, oil exports to foreign markets by the state oil company amounted to 4.6 million tons (an increase of 13.2 percent). SOCAR also exported 581 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia during the reporting period.
The state-owned company's oil refining complex processed about 1.7 million tons of oil (an increase of 5.4 percent) and over 892 million cubic meters of gas. In addition, SOCAR exported over 478,000 tons of petrochemical and gas chemical products in the first quarter of this year.
In total, 7.7 million tons of oil and 12.2 billion cubic meters of gas were produced in the country during this period (an increase of 3 percent). Furthermore, Azerbaijan exported 6.4 million tons of oil and more than 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas from January through March (an increase of 7.6 percent). During the reporting period, consumption of natural gas in the country amounted to 4.8 billion cubic meters.
