BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. SOCAR Türkiye has to date delivered around 9.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye, while the total volume of supplies from Azerbaijan stood at 98.2 billion cubic meters, Elchin Ibadov, CEO of SOCAR Türkiye, told Haberturk, Trend reports.
He pointed out that SOCAR Türkiye’s natural gas portfolio accounts for 6 percent of Türkiye’s consumption.
“We are also one of Türkiye's largest private sector players in the electricity and natural gas wholesale market. In 2022, the total trade and sales volume of natural gas and electricity reached 17 terawatt hours and its turnover reached 28 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
From January through March 2023, Azerbaijan exported natural gas to Europe (2.9 billion cubic meters), Türkiye (2.7 billion cubic meters), and Georgia (0.9 billion cubic meters). During the reporting period, 1,4 billion cubic meters of gas were exported to Türkiye via the TANAP [Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline].
In the first quarter of 2023, gas production in Azerbaijan increased by three percent, to 12.2 billion cubic meters. The country exported over half, or 6.5 billion cubic meters, of natural gas to foreign markets.
