BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. Turkmenistan and UK companies discussed expanding cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, these issues were discussed during a roundtable with the participation of representatives of state structures of Turkmenistan with relevant UK companies.
The Turkmen side, represented by representatives of the Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit state concern, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, got acquainted with the capabilities of UK companies in the field of hydrogen energy, associated gas monetization, ways to decarbonize the oil and gas sector of the country.
In particular, presentations were made by representatives of companies specializing in the renewable energy sector, such as Aggreko, Ikigai Capital, Hydro-C.
At the end of the meeting, the participants of the round table also considered the issues of financing projects in the field of green energy.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan has tremendous potential for harnessing solar energy. With more than 300 sunny days annually and with average annual intensity of solar radiation ranging between 700–800 watts per square meter, the total technical potential of solar energy amounts to 655 GW.
