BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Kyrgyzstan will purchase electricity and natural gas from Turkmenistan, said the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev today at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament), Trend reports via Kyrgyz media.
According to him, the procedures for concluding an agreement on the supply of 2 billion kWh of electricity are already underway with Turkmenistan. In addition, talks are ongoing to supply 350 million cubic meters of gas to Kyrgyzstan.
Ibraev also informed that Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement for the supply of coal from the Karazhyra deposit (Kazakhstan), according to him, 18 tons of coal will be delivered this month.
Meanwhile, according to Kyrgyzstan's National Statistical Committee, in the first 8 months of this year, Kyrgyzstan imported electricity from Turkmenistan in the amount of $34.1 million.
