BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Spanish Almar Water Solutions, global water infrastructure development company, is eager to invest in the construction of wastewater treatment plants in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The issue was discussed at the meeting between Luis Blanco, Director of Institutional Relations at the Almar Water Solutions, Manuel Garcia Calvo, Head of Marketing and Business Development Department at the company, and the representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid.
The discussions focused on attracting foreign direct investment and advanced technologies to Uzbekistan, as well as exchanging expertise in the field of wastewater treatment facilities.
The company reps expressed great interest in providing their technologies and investments in construction and modernization of wastewater treatment plants in Uzbekistan.
Almar Water Solutions participated in a business forum organized during the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and Spain, which took place in Tashkent on March 1-2. The company signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the government of the Samarkand region for the construction and operation of wastewater treatment plants under a public-private partnership worth $100 million in the city of Kattakurgan.
As part of this project, the Spanish company initially intended to conduct research and continue discussions with relevant Uzbek organizations to develop the necessary documents. Following the negotiations, both parties agreed to work on facilitating dialogue with representatives of responsible organizations from Uzbekistan to accelerate the planned implementation of the projects.
The meeting between the Uzbekistan Embassy and Almar Water Solutions signifies a growing interest in fostering collaboration between Uzbekistan and Spain in the field of wastewater treatment.
