BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. Executive Director of the International Business Council in Kyrgyzstan Askar Sydykov called for the acceleration of Manas airport's modernization, Trendreports referring to the International Business Council.
During today's meeting of the Investment Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, he noted due to rivalry with neighboring counties on public-private partnership (PPP) projects for the construction of airports, it is necessary to expedite the start of this project.
Sydykov recalled that a partner-investor who would renovate the Manas airport and invest more than $400 million in its development will be chosen as a result of the tender, which is organized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
He also underlined that this project can become a driver for the development of tourism, logistics and further expansion of cooperation with international financial institutions.
