ADB works on establishment of trade and logistics center in Tajikistan (Exclusive)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. A consulting firm engaged by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has recently visited Tajikistan to consult with different stakeholders in the country on the proposed establishment of the trade and logistics center, ADB Country Director in Tajikistan Shanny Campbell told Trend.

Under the CAREC program, ADB has been working with the governments of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to assess the potential of the proposed Shymkent-Tashkent-Khujand economic corridor (STKEC) development.

"ADB is helping the three countries to implement the road map and advance work in the identified thematic areas, including the pre feasibility study on the establishment of a trade and logistics center in the Sughd region of Tajikistan," Campbell said.

Campbell noted that the details of the proposed center (location, timeline, and financing needs) are currently under consideration.

"The center, once established, will contribute to increased trade to Tajikistan and neighboring countries through improving trade and logistics infrastructure and services. The project will also contribute to the STKEC development," she added.
