BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 12. Uzbekistan is looking to develop its agricultural sector, with help of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture.
The matter was discussed between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov and USAID Mission Director Mikaela Meredith.
During the meeting, the parties talked about issues of cooperation over the past few years, as well as plans for the development of agribusiness projects in 2023.
The sides also touched upon issues of increasing the capacity of entrepreneurs engaged in the field of agriculture in order to improve the quality of products and increase exports.
Moreover, Mikaela Meredith expressed the willingness of USAID to support the development of Uzbekistan's agricultural sector through existing projects and to respond to the needs of entrepreneurs launching innovative projects with consulting and financial assistance.
The USAID Agribusiness Development Project is a five-year project, worth $18.9 million, which aims to improve agribusiness competitiveness by introducing new technologies and management practices in agricultural production, post-harvest processing, processing and marketing.
