BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Interest income of the banking sector of Uzbekistan increased by 33.3 percent from January through March 2022, compared to same period of last year (10.7 trillion soums, or $958.6 million), reaching 14.3 trillion soums ($1.3 billion), Trend reports via the Uzbek Central Bank.
During this period, the interest expenses of Uzbek banks increased by 28.3 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (6.8 trillion soums, or $609.4 million), reaching 8.7 trillion soums ($782.1 million).
From January through March 2022, the interest margin amounted to 5.5 trillion soums ($496.2 million), which is an increase of 42.1 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (3.9 trillion soums, or $349.2 million).
At the same time, non-interest income reached 3.4 trillion soums ($305.1 million), which is an increase of 46.9 percent, compared to the specified period last year (2.3 trillion soums, or $207.7 million).
