Iran reviews challenges and solutions for Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railway

TEHRAN, Iran, April 29. Representatives of Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan have reviewed the challenges and solutions for consistency in the launch of container trains via the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) railway, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The 12th Meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) Train was held virtually in Tehran and representatives of the three countries have discussed the technical issues.

Promoting the quality of infrastructures in the ITI route, renovation of Zahedan-Taftan-Quetta, the establishment of a logistic center in Zahedan, transportation tariffs, challenges of a programming cargo train, providing standard operating procedure (SOP) to cargo owners, and the role of chambers of commerce in marketing was reviewed. Turkey is to host the next round of meeting in October 2022.

The Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) railway project, or ECO freight train, was inaugurated with the first freight train in December 2021.
