Azerbaijan increases share of natural gas in exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Natural gas accounted for 39.31 percent of Azerbaijan’s total exports from January through August 2022, versus 18.17 percent in the same period in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan increased natural gas exports by 13.7 percent from January through August 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021, with total volume of exports rising from 13.242 billion cubic meters (bcm) to 15.054 bcm.

The value of gas exports rose by almost 4.39 times from $2.350 billion in the first 8 months of 2021 to $10.318 billion in the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Europe began on December 31, 2020 with the commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor comprising of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion, the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
